10/12/2013 0 Comments Rainy WeekendRainy weather= progress. Feeling really excited about my piece. It's starting to look great. I am done with the monotonous and relaxing construction now it's time for the exciting but nerve wrecking deconstruction. All that's left is to burn, add lights, and screw in the back black frames.

9/17/2013 0 Comments SuppliesJust bought a boat-load of supplies! Thanks Michael's for allowing a 40% coupon on canvas... life saver. Inventory...40 feet of pine board, thread, black acrylic paint, tube lights, heat gun, canvas, screws, nails, & the kitchen sink. I put in some work on the miter and table saws. Just need to scrounge up some burnt umber paint pigment powder and I'll be on a roll.
P.s. PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE LOOKING AT A PEICE OF ART AND SAYING, "I could do that... easy." There is more than meets the eye ($, time, idea generation, experimentation, equipment, problem solving, road blocks). I love creating but its not always SMOOTH or PAINLESS. Thanks toodles! BTW... thanks to anyone who has purchased my previous works. You all are a major confidence booster and support system. 9/14/2013 0 Comments Working TIME!Hello again. I am so happy that I can finally continue my Impermanence series. NMU is up and running for the fall 2013 semester so I can use the saws at the studio. I am currently living in Ishpeming and student teaching in Negaunee! It has been a whirlwind of a first two weeks in the middle school. I am loving every second of it. The challenge is invigorating. However, this gives me less time to create! I am squeezing in work time when ever possible. I still have my eyes on submitting my work for Artprize next year! I am really bummed that I won't get to make it this time around but soon enough my friends! Here are some pictures of my progress... This next piece is going to be horizontal. This is a giant strip of fabric that I soaked in coffee grounds. Hanging out to dry & stain. 2 (1'x1') frames and 1 (3'x1') The stitching process has begun. I changed up the style of stitching from the first Impermanence piece.
7/8/2013 0 Comments First EntrySo excited that I finalized my website enough to publish and share on Facebook. I am not a big fan of technology but at least it is quenching a bit of my creative thirst! I am missing the studio so much. I need saws! I just want to make frames and dye fabric and build! I am so eager to continue my Impermanence series!
I am supposed to student teach in the Fall yet I do not know my placement and my lease in Marquette ends at the end of July! Yikes. Plan as of not is to move back downstate to Grand Haven. My brother has saws in GR that I can use. :) Till then I wait patiently. |
